This year degree show was truly an inspiration for my forth and final year as a jewellery student. The jewellery department at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design has outdone them selves each year seems to become better and better!Im going to do a blog post daily on my favourites! So here goes
First on my list is Rebecca Sarah Black.
Calling herself a bone-smith, Rebecca takes inspiration from the constant struggle with our identity, the rocky landscape around her (Scotland) and traditional folklore. She takes carving bone to the next level by combining it with an array of mixed materials ( gold, silver, knitted form and seaweed) selecting these components and getting a perfect balance is truly inspiring! Managing to make a material which has been used over centuries look precious and delcate is fascinating a true craftsmanship! This is why she is at the top of my list!
